• Assistant States Attorney (ASA): Overview

    • The State's Attorney prosecutes the Petition for Adjudication and works with the agencies (i.e., DCFS and Purchase of Services (“POS”) agencies etc.) and the GAL and/or CASA to make recommendations as to the best plan for the minor and family.*
    • In cases that involve severe abuse or neglect, there may also be criminal charges filed against the alleged perpetrator.

*DCFS has its own counsel, and the State does not represent DCFS.
